50 Days of Prayer – Oregon Coast
Day 17
Homelessness & Poverty
Mark 1:45 “…so that Jesus could no longer openly enter the city, but was outside in deserted places….”
Ps 12:5 “For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now I will arise,” says the Lord; “I will set him in the safety for which he yearns.”
PRAYER:
Father, You love Your children. You allowed Jesus to experience the loneliness and discomfort of being homeless. You are a fair and righteous Father. You hear the struggle and the challenges of those who are poor and bowed down; those who are drug and alcohol addicted; single parents and those who just can’t seem to get on their feet. You know us in our innermost being and You know us in our hearts. You know us in our deepest struggles and in our fears and prejudices. You know our pain. We ask that You soften our hearts with wisdom to help solve the problems related to those who are homeless and poor. Some have chosen this lifestyle. We desire to assist those who want to change their circumstances. Give wisdom and discernment to those helping and release resources to help make this transition. Help all of us to love and care more deeply. They are our brothers and sisters, our daughters and our sons. We pray for affordable housing to become available. We pray for those who are transitioning to have a spirit of stewardship and help them to get jobs. Give them favor. Help them with their children. We pray for convicts to find work and to be able to find a peaceable and safe habitation where they can rebuild their lives in holiness. Your love breaks down a multitude of fears. Help our churches to welcome the unlovely and encourage those who are bowed down.
Lord, as I examine my own heart, I ask that You forgive me for harboring resentments and prejudices toward people who do not live or work like I do. Help me to be an overcomer with love toward all Your children. In Jesus Name, Amen
