For Christians to Rise Up

Psalm 1:1 “Blessed is the man, who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;”

Exodus 18:21 “Moreover you shall select from all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.”

2 Samuel 23:3 “…He who rules over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.”

PRAYER:
Father, we thank You that our founding heritage as a nation is based on faith and trust in You. On our coin and currency are our guiding principles, “In God We Trust”. As a nation, we enjoy the privilege, freedom and responsibility to vote as we choose. We thank You, Father, for this God-given liberty. Thank You that we can freely participate in our communities as leaders, run for elected office and that we can exercise our choice at the polls. Let us not take this for granted. Forgive us, Lord, when we have become weak or complacent when it comes to taking a stand for righteousness according to Your word. Lord, we repent and humble ourselves before You. Forgive Christians – who know Your word – for not standing up or voting. Lord, many do not vote consistent with precepts established in Your word. Forgive us for not paying attention to the decay of moral standards that now surround us. We have not only been complacent, but we have allowed the culture to shape our opinions. We have become jaded by media. We have lost sight of Your precepts that were put in place for  our safety and protection. Lord, have mercy and grace upon us. Wash us with Your precious blood. Change our hearts, our minds and our faulty thinking. Help us return to the safety of Your Word which we as a nation so desperately need.

Father, we ask for righteousness to rise up in the hearts of Your people. We pray for responsible Christians who will take the time to study issues and learn about candidates who will stand for righteousness as YOU see it. Strengthen Your people with wisdom and discernment to stand up for godly values. Lord, we want to see You as King over our State, as King over the United States. Remind us of our duty to put righteous people into office and to support biblical principles in our culture. Help us place Christian voting guides into the hands of Americans. Help us say, “Yes to Life, No to unnatural death!” We yearn to do what is right in Your sight. Help Christians say, “Here am I, send me!” Raise up godly men and women in leadership roles to re-shape our culture with boldness and goodness. Give them courage and protection. Go before them and grant them favor. In Jesus Name, Amen
