Pray for Those in Authority

Psalm 33:12 “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord”. …

1 Tim.2:1-2 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.

PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, we come to you on behalf of our great nation and ask for your hand of mercy and forgiveness to be extended to us, and to our leadership for we have sinned greatly against You, with many decisions which have made sin legal. We are grieved by this and seek Divine intervention to bring restoration to the laws of our land. We thank You, for those who are willing to serve our nation in a leadership capacity, asking that you bless them with humble, servanthearted abilities. We ask for Godly and God-fearing leaders who recognize their need to be accountable to You, for each decision that they make, and ask that You would grant them wisdom, knowledge and understanding as they seek You.

We ask for each of our leaders, that you would draw them into the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, and that you would strengthen and encourage them to stand strong in their faith. Let them practice good moral conduct in all their ways. We pray that they would humbly recognize their inadequacy, and seek Your will through prayer, and let the truth of Your Word burn in their bones such that they cannot contain it. Lord, for those who have wandered away from You, we pray for conviction and repentance. Expose sin and corruption that is hidden in darkness so it can be brought to light. Surround them with Godly counsel and support. Help them be dependable, filled with a heart of excellence and love for You, our people and our nation. Let the Ten Commandments and Your teachings be a filter by which they shape their decisions. We pray blessings over their families and thank them for sacrifices necessary to support leadership. And we pray for the support staff that enable our leaders to make decisions to have the same wisdom, discernment and commitment needed by our decision makers.

Help our leaders respect authority and practice accountability with the American people. Give them courage to reduce heavy tax burdens, regulation and defund un-necessary programs. With the great amount of information placed in our leader’s possession, help them to be focused and discerning, resistant to pressure and manipulation, holding Your Word as the measuring stick for decision making. Let them not be swayed by political correctness or fear of man.

For those laws which have gone against Your Word, give our leaders courage to restore righteousness. We pray for them to honor the sanctity of life and to repeal and overturn laws that violate Your will. Make them wise stewards of our national resources and give them a passion to protect the interests of the American people. We pray for unity in our leadership and agreement as they engage in decisions which honor You, and conviction when going against Your will. Lord, Your Word says You turn the hearts of king’s whichever way You desire. Turn our leaders back toward You and Your ways.

*Lord, I ask now, to forgive me for not upholding our leaders in prayer regularly. Help me to respect those who are placed in authority and to pray regularly for them. Help me to guard my words, speaking words which edify and strengthen. Lord, rebuild our nation according to Your plan and purposes. In Jesus Name!
