Day 18

Our Veterans, Men and Women of Valor

Joshua 1:14 … But You shall pass before your brethren armed, all your mighty men of valor, and help them

Psalm 20: 8-9 They have bowed down and fallen; But we have risen and stand upright.  Save, Lord! May the King answer us when we call.

Psalm 44:24-26 Why do You hide Your face, And forget our affliction and our oppression? For our soul is bowed down to the dust; Our body clings to the ground. Arise for our help, And redeem us for Your mercies’ sake.

PRAYER:
Our faithful Father,

Today, we pray for our mighty men and women of valor who have served our country, bravely and with great courage, who have willingly laid their lives down for our freedoms and to protect the
freedom of the world we care for. We thank You, that You know each one and they are precious in Your sight. You know the beginning from the end. You were there in their midst when they were under fire. You weep with those who weep. The battlefield has shifted from a war zone to at home. Thank goodness, You are mighty in battle! You know the battlefield of their minds, especially those who suffer from battlefield fatigue, memories and traumas. You know their deepest fears and wounds. Lord, we ask for the love of the Father to be poured out on our Veterans, especially those who have gone to war, bearing up under impossible conditions, and those who have seen much blood shed. Indeed, Lord, we cry out to You to heal their memories, to heal hearts, quiet fears and restore peace of mind. Lord, what the enemy has intended for evil, You would turn this experience and use it for good. We ask that for those who have endured physical trauma, we ask that You would heal and enlarge resourcefulness. We pray that each Veteran would see Your plan and purpose unfold in their lives. We ask for such complete healing that when they lie down, their sleep is sweet, and their relationships are uncluttered by their traumas. Help our Veterans to draw very near to You, Lord, and to have deep and enduring love in their marriages and for their families. Help these families to cleave together in unity and in faith.

We pray for the marriages and families of our warriors that they would be filled with understanding and encouragement. That You would give them wisdom and endurance to run the race set before them, looking to You, the author and perfecter of their faith. Keep them fixed and stable in the shadow of the Almighty God, drawing each one in tender, healing intimacy. As Your word says in 1 John 4:18, “perfect love casts out fear.” Let it be so!

We lift up every Veteran who is struggling with drugs, medications, mental problems, who cannot keep a job or who may not have a family or a home. Lord, our hearts cry out for extra special help for these. Fill their hearts with hope, salvation and strength. For those who desire help, surround them with people and care that will help them get back on their feet. We ask for the resources of heaven, the very present help in times of trouble, just what they need, to come forth. We ask for peaceable habitations for each one and deliverance from these struggles, and for hope to be restored. Help the Body of Christ to rise up and take note, to pray, and to adopt those who are bowed down. In Jesus Name! Amen
