Day 3

Attitudes and Actions

Proverbs 3:5-8 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones.

Hebrews 12:1-3 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.

Philippians 2:3-16

PRAYER:
Lord, You call us in Your Word to “Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than (our)selves” and to “not merely look out for (our) own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.” Then You call us up to the highest example: “Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus,” and highlight His humility in becoming a man and being obedient even to the point of dying on the cross. All of our sinful attitudes seem so petty in comparison.

*Forgive me Lord for taking Your sacrifice so lightly, and for all of the things I have done that put myself before You. Help me keep my eyes on You so that not only what I do, but what I say and think will be in gratitude for Your great sacrifice that purchased my redemption. Lord, bring to mind the areas of my life that distract me. _________ (Listen, repent and obey). Strengthen me, Lord, so that I will not give in to the temptations that would ensnare me. Set me free from the bondage of wrong attitudes and actions so that I may not just walk, but “run with endurance the race that is set before me, looking to You, the author and finisher of my faith.” In the name of Jesus, our living Savior, I pray. Amen.
