Repentance

Joel 2:12-13 Now, therefore, says the LORD, Turn to Me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning. So rend your heart, and not your garments; return to the LORD your God, for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness; and He relents from doing harm.

Romans 2:4 Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and long-suffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?

Hosea 6:1-3, 6; 2 Corinthians 7:9,10

PRAYER:
Father God, we acknowledge that You are holy and righteous, so we come and bow our hearts before You. We praise You that You are compassionate and have given us access to come before Your throne. It is Your kindness that draws us to repentance as Your Word declares, so we thank You for extending Your loving-kindness to us today. Allow us to see our sin for what it is and be sorrowful for it, because it separates us from You and cost the life of Your only begotten Son. We pray this not only for ourselves, but for our nation. O God, how we have offended You. We repent on behalf of our nation, our leaders and citizens alike. May we recognize our offenses and turn away from them to You who are willing to forgive and restore. May we walk in humility and gratitude and perform deeds appropriate to repentance. Father, thank You for Your grace and mercy which is provided new for us today.

*Because of Your grace, I ask You to forgive me for any way that I have grieved You or Your Holy Spirit. Help me to hear Your voice as I bring to mind these things. Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned against You and my people in the following ways…_________ (listen and obey!). I ask You to cleanse me from this unrighteousness and renew a right spirit within me. Show me how to respond in my world to make this attitude and my relationships right. It is in the all-powerful name of Jesus our Lord and Savior we pray. Amen.
