Raise up a Chosen Generation – Political Candidates

Scripture:
1 Peter 2:9-10 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.

Jude 16-21 These are grumblers, complainers, walking according to their own lusts; and they mouth great swelling words, flattering people to gain advantage. But you, beloved, remember the words which were spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ: how they told you that there would be mockers in the last time who would walk according to their own ungodly lusts. These are sensual persons, who cause divisions, not having the Spirit.

Prayer:
Father, we call out to You. We have elected unrighteous judges, leaders and rulers because many of us do not vote or are not registered to vote. You have commissioned us to take a stand for righteousness, and we have sinned against our people and against You by failing to take a stand for righteousness when we don’t vote. We have sinned by omission for not caring enough when we fail to do our homework on issues and candidates. Forgive us, Lord for neglecting our responsibility of taking dominion over this land You have given us and for failing to honor this God given freedom.

This nation was formed as “One Nation Under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.” As time has gone on, Christians have acquiesced into the lie of separation of church and state by not getting involved in politics. In doing so, many ungodly men and women have filled elected positions. Unrighteous judges have been appointed by ungodly leaders or voted into office while Christian attorneys have failed to heed or answer the call of stepping up, to restore righteous order. Forgive us for allowing pressure groups and groups of activists to define a new normal. Many of these people now run unopposed for political offices. What was considered ungodly a generation ago, has become the ‘normal’. We can now kill the unborn up to the moment before they are born. Our Creator no longer determines if we are male nor female, but gender is now determined by individuals. Marriage is being redefined. Forgive us Lord. These things have become law and have been upheld by our Supreme Court. We repent for jumping on the political bandwagon of the day and for making laws that dishonor or diminish Your word. We repent for allowing a party-line, which we have identified with, to overrule Your precepts.

Lord, our nation is desperate for honorable, strong leaders who up-hold Your principles. Stir the hearts of men and women in every city, county, state and in the nation to answer this need with wisdom, passion and purpose. We pray that those You are calling to office will take up the mantel You have anointed them with and go forth! Let them be strong and very courageous! Let them say, “Yes and Amen,” to the call. We pray You will make their way plain and straight. Season their words with truth, light and salt. Take a coal from Your alter and touch their lips with the fire of Your Holy Spirit. May Your favor fall on them. Cause them to shine with Your anointing. Help them answer questions with wisdom and truth. In debates, help them think quickly and intelligently while on their feet and speak through them wisdom as from the ‘oracles of God.’ When Your anointed servants speak, cause them to rise in people’s favor so that listeners respond, “Yes, and Amen!” We ask for protection over them and their families, from every fiery dart the enemy tries to send their way. In righteousness they shall be established; they shall be far from oppression, for they shall not fear; and from terror, for it shall not come near them. No weapon formed against them shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against them in judgment You shall condemn.

Once elected, we pray these leaders will stay the course with You as their fore and rear guard. Let them run the race with endurance, laying aside every weight, sin and worry, looking to You, the Author and Finisher of their faith. We will pray for and support those who heed Your call. We pray that once again our nation will be ‘One Nation Under God.’ We pray that all eligible Christians will register to vote and will vote based on Your Word and not the words of man. In Jesus Name!
